Can I Replace My Dual Wall Floor Furnace?Typical floor furnace problem with venting and rust

This is a floor furnace than spans a wall typically from the living room to a hallway. No, this floor furnace cannot be replaced as it is no longer manufacturered. The problem with these floor furnaces is that they allow the interior of the wall above them to become too hot. There have been a great many fires related to this furnace and we have removed many of them to find the entire interior of the wall burned from heat.

They can still be fixed, but once the heat exchanger of this floor furnace (firebox) is ruptured, it must be converted to another type of heating unit. Floor furnaces are still manufactured, but they are the style that only serves a single room. Most people opt for either a dual wall furnace or forced air heating.

What Happened To The Built In Valve With a Simple ON-Off Control?

  • The floor furnace that used to sold that had a simple on-off control is no longer code approved and is no longer manufactured. It simply didn't have a minimum level of safety such as turning off when the home achieved the desired temperature. We can still fix those units as the valves are still manufactured and there are several valves on the market that can replace the orginal without any problems.
