What Kind of Warranty is There on Slab Leak Repairs?

In the last 20 years we have had 1 leak reoccur in a joint under the slab. I went back to the job site and opened the floor back up and repaired it. The leak was from a bad weld joint.

Copper water pipes under the slab cannot be soldered. They must be welded. Uniform Plumbing Code 609.3.2 “Copper tubing shall be installed without joints where possible. Where joints are permitted, they shall be brazed”. Welding the copper water pipe under the slab is a much more secure way of connection

3. natural disasters, such as, without limitation, flooding, windstorm and lightning;
4. attachments or modifications to the Product that the Manufacturer did not authorize;
5. external causes, where external, physical or chemical qualities produce damage to the Product, such as, without limitation, aggressive water or an unsuitable or hostile environment; or
6. any other cause beyond the Manufacturer's control.

The Manufacturer shall NOT be liable under any circumstances for any other direct or any indirect, incidental or consequential damages of any kind.

What Does That Copper Water Pipe Warranty Really Mean?

In reality that warranty with those exclusions means that you do not have any warranty whatsoever when it comes to slab leak protection from the manufacturer. They have excluded every reason that the tubing would ever develop a slab leak. A, E and F eliminate every single cause for copper water pipe failure. Copper is naturally occurring metal. It has been here for millions of years and it does not decompose. It is not going to fail unless something is causing that failure and that cause is outside the control of the manufacturer.

10 Year Construction Defect Warranty

Every single piece of new construction work comes with a latent defect warranty courtesy of the state of California. The State of California doesn’t warranty the slab leak work, they enforce it upon the contractor. All contractors are required to have a bond of at least $12,500. So, for 10 years you have warranty for defects in construction that the bonding company will pay out of on.
